The loss brings the Eagles season to an end, but the 3-7 record is still the best varsity campaign in program history.
“The first half we played really well,” said North Cobb Christian coach Harry Miles, whose Eagles trailed only 14-7 at the break. “They’re a good team and they played well, but we had way too many mistakes.
“We’re done (for the season). We took a step forward this year. We had six guys who started that were freshmen, eight who played significantly. We only had two seniors.”
North Cobb Christian did itself in in the second half with six turnovers — four interceptions and two lost fumbles. It led to the Eagles being outscored 40-7 in the second half.
Three of the interceptions resulted in touchdowns by Angoras defenders Trayvon Odom, Jeremy Wimberly and Mykel Jordan.
Kendall Crute scored both of the Eagles’ touchdowns. Josh Warren threw a 68-yard pass to Crute near the end of the second quarter to tie the game 7-7.
The second score came on 80-yard kick-off return by midway through the fourth quarter.
Crute finished the night with 129 yards rushing and 122 yards receiving
“Being young we just (struggled),” Miles said.
