Hospitals to provide flu shots
MARIETTA - Kaiser Permanente of Georgia will kick off its fall influenza campaign today by offering flu shots at no charge to its members in metro Atlanta.
The flu shots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TownPark Medical Center in Kennesaw, West Cobb Medical Office in Austell and West Marietta Medical Office. Nonmembers who are caregivers to Kaiser Permanente members can also receive a flu shot for $25. However, the member must be present at the time the nonmember requests the vaccine.
The 2010-11 seasonal flu vaccine protects against three influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the upcoming season, including the 2009 H1N1 virus. Members will not need a separate vaccination for H1N1.
On Flu Shot Saturday, walk-in Pap screenings will also be available to Kaiser Permanente members between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at TownPark Medical Center. Co-pays may apply. For more information, visit www.kp.org/flu.
