Melba Irene Smith, 80, of Marietta, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010. Melba was a loving Mother and homemaker; a trusted friend to all who knew her. Melba was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 29, 1929 to Clarence Stulce and Mary Bunton Stulce. She was the eldest of 5 children; Jim Stulce, deceased and Alice Stulce, Alma and Thad McCounaughay, Doris Boucher and deceased husband, Rich, all of St. Louis, Mo. and Clara and Bill Supernaunt, of Charleston, S.C., many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Smith. Her survivors include her daughter, Vickie L. Haney and husband Mark Haney, daughter Saundra "Sandy" L. Owenby and husband, James "Sonny" Owenby, son Timothy "Tim" D. Smith and wife Alicia Smith, all of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren Hilary Meeks and wife Kristine Meeks, Marshal Meeks and wife Natalie Meeks, Adam Haney and wife Jennifer Haney, Jessica Haney, Melinda Mauldin and husband Joey Mauldin, Christopher Owenby and wife Vickie Owenby, Amber Smith and Timothy Smith; great-grandchildren Ryan and Owen Mauldin, Dylan and Kyndra Owenby, Katelyn and Zeke Haney. Memorial service to be held at New Hope United Methodist Church, Marietta, Ga., Sunday, April 25, 2010, 3:00 p.m.; fellowship following service at the home of Vickie and Mark Haney, Marietta, Ga. Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to WellStar Hospice, WellStar Foundation, 2000 South Park Place, Atlanta, Georgia 30339 or Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
