MARIETTA - Franklin Road saw more violence early Sunday when masked men shot and robbed two other men.

The first shooting occurred at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday, when two Hispanic men wearing blue bandannas to hide their faces attempted to rob Fernando Lopez of Marietta in front of the Flagstone Village Apartments at 849 Franklin Road.

Lopez, who was shot multiple times as he escaped to call police, is reportedly in stable condition at Kennestone Hospital, said Marietta Police Officer Michael Gardner.

Just 20 minutes later, a half-mile down Franklin Road behind the El Cuate nightclub, two men also wearing blue bandannas attempted to rob three other Hispanic men. One of the victims, Manuel Gustamante of Cartersville, was shot and taken to Grady Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

In both cases, the suspects fled on foot.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Daniel Ohmann at (770) 794-5372.

In December, police arrested three men and two women in connection with a double homicide that occurred in the Las Colinas complex at 861 Franklin Road.

Perfect example of what happens when the consequences for breaking the law are a joke and detere no one…. By the way I doubt these guys can read English or if they could read, like they would read this paper, but just in case ….Be advised the owner of this house has many guns and will use them before seeing who is entering! Fight back people protect yourself.

Franklin Road area was great 15 years ago and then all the hispanics took over. It is a mini-Mexico over there. Why isn't the sherrifs office cleaning house over there. This is America and we have laws. There should not be a reason to go door to door asking for proof of citizenship or visas. Get these gang and drug thugs out of our country. Any lawyer who wants to complain can go with them!

Enforce immigration laws! The illegals that have taken over Franklin Road & many other areas of our county & country are breaking the law & putting Americans lives in danger!! The employers that hire them are breaking the law! The apartments & landlords that rent to them are breaking! The cities & counties that look the other way are breaking the law! Do we REALLY want Cobb County to turn into Franklin Rd.? Better WAKE UP!!!

Franklin Road used to be a nice place to live, until the Mexican invasion brought the drugs and crime and destruction of those neighborhoods. The schools who receive students from this area are the worst in the county. We need the police to actually do their job and stop coddling these invaders. The need more traffic stops in that area to check for drivers' licenses and roadblocks with drug sniffing dogs in the late hours. I'll bet that none of the people involved have a right to be in our country, and now the taxpayers (me included) are stuck with the hospital bills for these people.

Blue bandannas? I wonder if they're gang members?
