Don't give up so easily on local sex offenders

DEAR EDITOR:

How unfortunate it is for the nine sex offenders to be asked to relocate from their encampment in Cobb.

Their crimes shouldn't be excused. However, they're first directed to live like animals in woods, and then told they can no longer be homeless there? Instead of just sweeping this unfortunate group aside, why not present a plan with which to help them? The responsibly kind gesture may be just what they need to be shown that they haven't been given up on, and would prevent the Cobb County government from looking ignorant.

I can't believe in this day and age we would still simply give up on certain individuals rather than offering the counseling they truly need.

oh the counseling is offered alright at $120.00 for the test and $40.00 a class 4classes a month.no help in getting that money and most won't hire sex offenders.i've been looking for a job 18 months. i get odd jobs sometimes once or twice a month and i'll be soon freezing b/c financial aid is given once a year.so HOW would you like me to pay that?when i can't pay my water or electric bill?

Counseling doesn't work - stats show these sex offenders continue offending. Maybe they need to be kept in prison where they can't hurt anyone.

Michael - if you feel such passion for these offenders, then you take care of them. You spend your dollars and time finding them a home, and giving them the conseling you think that will cure them. Are you expecting my tax dollars to do that? I've already paid for their food, care and lodging while they served their time. I'm done supporting them.

Tell them to go live somewhere else. Stay away from my kids.
