MARIETTA - Qualifying for the nonpartisan Nov. 3 elections in Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw and Powder Springs ended this week.

Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw and Powder Springs have four-year city council posts on the November ballot. The mayoral seat in Acworth is also up for election.

Smyrna doesn't have any elections because the mayor and council are re-elected to four-year terms at the same time. Those elections were conducted in 2007.

Qualifying in Acworth ended on Friday.

Acworth Mayor Tommy Allegood, who is seeking a third term, will be unopposed. Incumbents Tim Richardson of Post 4 and Tim Houston of Post 5 will also run without opposition.

In Austell, qualifying ended on Wednesday.

At-large incumbent David "Bo" Traylor will face opposition from Trudie Causey, a homemaker. In Ward 1, incumbent Kirsten Anderson will have no opposition. The only candidate to qualify for the open Ward 3 seat was Martin Standard, a consultant.

In Kennesaw, qualifying ended Wednesday. Candidates in Kennesaw are elected at-large.

In the open Post 5 race, Frank Cullins will run against Jeff Duckett. Incumbents Bruce Jenkins of Post 3 and Bill Thrash of Post 4 are not being challenged.

Qualifying ended Friday in Powder Springs.

Incumbent Ra Barr will face challenger Cheryl Sarvis. In the open Ward 3 race, Nancy Hudson faces Steve Labr. Incumbent Al Thurman of Ward 2 is unopposed.
