William "Bill" Wilson of Marietta, GA passed away suddenly of a heart attack, on Wednesday, August 26, 2009. He was born September 16, 1946 in Hooker, OK to Doraleen Davis Wilson and Alva Nathan "Abie" Wilson. Bill was a 1964 graduate of Hooker High School in Hooker, OK. He also graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. In 1968 Bill moved to Georgia to take a position as an engineer with Lockheed Corp. He remained there until his retirement in 2002. Bill was a man of many interests, he was a basketball and baseball coach through South Cherokee Recreation Association and also served as an officer for several years. Bill was a State Director of Dizzy Dean Baseball, a former member of Pinetree Country Club and a member of Society of Aeronautical Weight Engineers. Bill's hobbies included collecting baseball cards and coins and working jigsaw and crossword puzzles. He was an excellent Bridge player and also enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others and was affectionately known as "Instructor Bill." He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jan Daniel Wilson; son, Wes Wilson and wife Kim; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Doraleen Davis Wilson and Alva Nathan "Abie" Wilson and brother Robert Wilson of Hugoton, KS. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 4:00 PM in the chapel at Woodstock Funeral Home in Woodstock, GA. Rev. William S. Davies of Rome, GA. will officiate.
