On Aug. 19, more than 1,500 parents and students of Barber Middle School in Acworth were treated to a picnic sponsored and cooked by Archer Restoration Services. The event was a kickoff for Operation Protect.

Operation Protect is the inaugural interrelation program of the ABC Health Alliance (Acworth Elementary/Barber Middle/Community Health Alliance). The program is designed to provide not only drug awareness and education but also support and wraparound services for students and families with mental health intervention from Northside Psychological Services.

Operation Protect was created in memory of Jeremy Letalien. Letalien was a 25-year-old who suffered from an addiction and died in 2013. His parents, Cathy and Paul Letalien, understand the pain of losing a child to addiction, and are working to educate parents and youth on addiction. Paul Letalien is the president of Archer Restoration Services.

The Mission of the ABC Health Alliance is to strengthen the health and well being of children residing in Acworth by establishing a school based health center.
