Marietta resident Hailey Johnston has been selected to receive an Alfred Shorter Scholarship to attend Shorter University in Rome.

The Alfred Shorter Scholarship provides three-quarters of tuition for incoming freshmen for eight semesters. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must hold at least a 3.75 grade point average and an 1100 SAT (in critical reading and math) or 24 ACT score. Scholarship recipients must then maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average at Shorter.

Hailey is the daughter of Gail Johnston and Scott Johnston. She graduated from Pope High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society from 2012 to 2014.
