Frank C. Gullatte, 94 years old, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather died at home on Thursday August 21, 2014 surrounded by those he spent his life taking care of and who in turn found joy in taking care of him. Frank was born in Chambers County Alabama to Frank and Minnie Lou Gullatte. All who knew Frank – knew him to be a hard worker and family man. On February 4, 2013 the Georgia State Senate honored him with a resolution recognizing his outstanding accomplishments on the behalf of Georgia workers. He retired as President of Atlanta Laborers Local 438 and 7th District Vice President of the Georgia State AFL-CIO. Mr. Gullatte served on the Atlanta Labor Council and was appointed to the State Board of Worker’s Compensation by Governor Joe Frank Harris. Senior Judge Dorothy Toth Beasley said of Mr. Gullatte, “He did not overlook people but rather paid attention to anyone who sought his assistance. He taught me a good deal about labor and laborers’ issues, in ways I otherwise would not have had opportunity to learn.” He is survived by Carrie, his loving wife of 70 years. Frank and Carrie were blessed to have seven children. Their sons Ken and Gerald preceded their father in death. Along with his wife Carrie, Frank is survived by: Wesley and Shirley Gullatte of Nashville, TN, Rodney and Dr. Mary Gullatte of Marietta, Linda Gullatte of Roswell, Brenda Gullatte of Roswell, Ken and Merrol Moore(daughter) of Norcross. Special thanks to grandsons Collin Gullatte, Brenden Thomas and Kent Moore for their loving contributions to their grandfather’s care. Additionally, survivors include Frank’s siblings Ruth Gullatte, Olivia Gullatte and Matthew Gullatte, along with a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to send special thanks to Dr. Brian Hill, Dr. George Chang, Dr. Mitchell Blass, Dr. Maho Akamatsu, and Dr. James Roberson for giving Mr. Gullatte outstanding care. We would also like to thank Emory Healthcare System, Wellstar Healthcare System, Healthport, The Village Tavern, Bagcraft, Arrow Exterminators, and the Administration of Holcomb Bridge Middle School for being supportive employers of devoted caregivers. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday August 26, at Hanley-Shelton Funeral Home in Marietta, GA .from 6pm-8pm.
