Moore Colson announces 8 promotions

Marietta-based accounting firm Moore Colson recently announced the promotions of eight firm professionals. Candace Jackson and Kelly Bird were promoted to senior managers in the Business Assurance Practice; Stephanie George and Andrew L. Moore were promoted to managers in the Tax Practicel; Kenneth Griffin, Brad Parker and Mike Reynolds were promoted to managers in the Business Assurance Practice.; and Caroline Geiger was promoted to senior associate in the Business Assurance Practice.

Candace Jackson

Formerly a manager in the firm’s Business Assurance Practice, Jackson joined Moore Colson upon completion of her summer internship with the firm in 2007. In her new role as senior manager, she is responsible for managing client review and audit engagements and overseeing staff members. She also has extensive experience with employee benefit plan audits and serves as a practice area leader assisting in firm training related to these engagements. Her experience includes serving clients in the manufacturing/distribution, service, transportation, insurance and restaurant industries.

She is a summa cum laude graduate of Berry College with a bachelor of science, double major in accounting and finance. She is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is a also former recipient of the firm’s Peak Award.

Kelly Bird

Bird joined the firm’s Business Assurance practice as a senior associate in 2011 and was promoted to manager in 2012. In her new role as senior manager, she is responsible for planning and overseeing all aspects of financial statement audits as well as managing staff members. Her experience includes serving clients in the real estate, financial institution, health care and medical technology industries. She specializes in the firm’s Real Estate Practice, which includes fund level and property level audits of office buildings, multifamily housing, hotels and retail properties. She also manages audits of employee benefit plans and SSAE 16s and assists public companies in the implementation and compliance of Sarbanes-Oxley. She is a former recipient of the firm’s Peak Award.

Prior to joining Moore Colson, she worked with UHY Advisors, the 16th largest accounting firm in the United States, as a senior accountant-audit. She also worked with Verizon Wireless as an accounting intern while earning a masters of accountancy.

She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a master of accountancy in audit and a bachelor of business administration in accounting. She is also a member of The Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and PrimeGlobal.

Stephanie George

Prior to joining the firm in 2009, George worked as an intern with Moore Colson’s Tax Services Practice in 2008. In 2011, she was promoted to tax senior associate. In her new role, she is responsible for managing individual, corporate, fiduciary and partnership tax compliance and recognizing and implementing tax planning strategies.

She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelor of business administration in accounting and a masters of accountancy. She was also the recipient of Moore Colson’s annual Accounting Achievement Award, presented to a top senior accounting student from The University of Georgia’s J.M. Tull School of Business, at the Spring Honors Banquet in 2008.

Kenneth Griffin

Formerly a senior associate in the firm’s Lender Services Practice, Griffin performs collateral reviews for the firm and works primarily as a lender services consultant, where he manages compliance and due diligence engagements. Bankers and lenders call on him to assist in conducting business surveys and collateral reviews. His 10 years of experience and comprehensive analysis skills provide lenders with an objective view of the information provided by customers or prospects.

Prior to joining Moore Colson, he worked for Lender’s Consulting Group Inc. in Tampa, Fla., as a field examiner, where he conducted comprehensive exams and collateral reviews both on prospective borrowers and recurring clients. He worked on assignments from coast to coast and managed templates of major national banks as well as regional lenders. He also served as a credit account manager and field examiner for Presidential Financial Corporation in Alpharetta. He is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science in management.

Andrew L. Moore

Formerly a senior tax associate with the firm, Moore joined Moore Colson in 2013. In his new role as a tax manager, he is responsible for managing individual, corporate, fiduciary and partnership tax compliance and recognizing and implementing tax saving strategies.

Prior to joining the firm, he was a tax senior with Ross Lane & Company LLC in Atlanta. While with Ross Lane, he provided a full range of tax, accounting and business advisory services to individuals and closely held entities. He also worked as a senior accountant with Daniel/Pappadakis & Associates LLC in Atlanta. He is a graduate of Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw with a bachelor of business administration in accounting, and a minor in business law. He is a former recipient of the firm’s Peak Award.

Brad Parker

Parker served as an intern with Moore Colson during the summer of 2008 and was hired as a business assurance associate in 2009. In 2011, he was promoted to business assurance senior associate. As a manager in the Business Assurance Practice, he leads audit and assurance engagements serving clients within the manufacturing, distribution, construction, health care, service and technology industries. He also provides outsourced Sarbanes-Oxley financial compliance services and reporting on internal controls as well as lending advisory services.

He is a graduate of Samford University with a bachelor of science in business administration. While attending Samford, he was a varsity basketball manager and recipient of the Cook’s Pest Control Scholarship and Rushing Scholarship - Baptist Foundation.

Mike Reynolds

Formerly a business assurance senior associate, Reynolds joined the firm in 2012. As a manager, he performs client reviews and audit engagements, and also manages on-site fieldwork for audit engagements and is responsible for performing planning procedures, balance sheet and income statement testing of key risk areas, control testing, compliance and financial reporting.

With expertise in underwriting, legal documentation and deal negotiations in the debt funding of private equity sponsored transactions, Reynolds’ experience includes serving clients in the construction, real estate, private equity, service, hospitality and distribution industries. He also assists public companies in the implementation and compliance of Sarbanes-Oxley.

Prior to joining Moore Colson, he was an associate with Chatham Capital in Atlanta, where he was responsible for underwriting, legal documentation and deal negotiations in the debt funding of private equity sponsored transactions. Prior to working for Chatham Capital, he was an audit senior with another local Atlanta accounting firm in their Financial Reporting & Assurance Department, where he was an in-charge and managed on-site fieldwork for the audit team’s engagements.

He is a graduate of Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business in Blacksburg, Va., with a bachelor of science in accounting and information systems. He is also the treasurer for the Atlanta Virginia Tech Alumni Association.

Caroline Geiger

Formerly a business assurance associate with Moore Colson, Geiger joined the firm in 2012. As a senior associate, she is responsible for planning and executing audits and reviews in accordance with GAAS and SSARS, preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP, planning and executing audits of employee benefit plans and documenting and testing internal accounting controls and control environments.

Prior to joining the firm in a full-time capacity, she served as a business assurance intern with Moore Colson during the summer of 2011. Upon completion of her internship with the firm, she returned to pursue a master’s of accountancy degree from the University of Georgia. She also earned a bachelor’s of business administration in accounting from the University of Georgia and was an intern with a division of a major automotive parts company in their Heavy Vehicle Parts Group. She was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, UGA’s Miracle Finance Committee, Dean’s List and the HOPE Scholarship.
