AUSTELL — An Austell man is facing attempted murder charges after authorities say he shot two people Saturday, including a female juvenile.

Cobb police say neighbors on Stonecrest Drive, which is near Austell Road, called 911 after they first heard gunshots, then saw a woman bleeding.

When police and fire personnel arrived at the home just before 4 p.m., they found a woman and juvenile suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to Officer Mike Bowman with Cobb police. Both were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for their injuries, Bowman said.

The suspect, Clarence Washington, had fled the scene but was apprehended a short distance away, Bowman said. Washington has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with the intent to commit murder and two counts of aggravated battery. As of press time, Washington was in the process of being booked into the Cobb County jail.
