Music promotes a healthy Lifestyle.
“Life is committed to the idea of vital health and that includes expressing health in six facets of our lives: Physical, emotional, environmental, intellectual, spiritual, and social. We think live music in a community setting expresses (and enhances) health in all those areas — in addition to the fact that concerts are just fun,” said Cynthia Boyd, vice president for enrollment and marketing. She has worked with the university in various capacities for 19 years.
The concert series is an opportunity for the community to learn more about Life.
“The concert series will bring the community onto the campus to enjoy just how beautiful it is — with summer evenings of music, fun, food and friends. We’d like people to know that we have grown into a university that offers 12 undergraduate degrees and four graduate degrees as well as our Doctor of Chiropractic degree. We want to increase awareness of what Life U has to offer not only in the way of programs, but also as a vibrant, healthy place for students and families to visit and enjoy,” said Boyd, a Marietta resident.
“Our amphitheater — in Lyceum Park, right out in front of our Administration Building — is perfect for music concerts, with beautiful grounds, reflecting pools and fountains to enjoy. As for the music, the bands will have wide appeal across several genres. And, this is what’s most fun about them: they’re all up-and-coming local artists who are poised to hit it big in the music industry. A few years from now, people who attend the Sounds of Life Concert Series will be able to say, ‘I knew them when,’” Boyd said.
The community should support the event.
“Life University is a strong community pillar. We host and sponsor several events a year for local non-profits, and our faculty, staff and students volunteer for a multitude of community events, in addition to the community events we coordinate. … We give, do, love and serve out a sense of abundance. We understand that when we share with others, we enrich our own lives. We want to share our beautiful campus with the community,” she said.
