You better get running this weekend! Register now for the 9th Annual East Cobb Rotary Dog Days Run that takes place this Saturday at Mt. Bethel Methodist Church in Marietta. The East Cobb Rotary invites you to this family friendly community event supporting Cobb County charities and service projects of the Rotary Club of East Cobb. Run, jog or walk the race. There will be good music, great food and lots of prizes and giveaways.

Dog Days 5K Run is a Peachtree Road Race Qualifier/USATF Certified Course. This race is Rotary Club of East Cobb’s biggest fundraiser of the year and all the proceeds are donated to local charities.

All runners receive a “Sweat-Tech” T-shirt. Cash Prizes will be awarded to top finishers.

The church is at 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta.

On Saturday, run the 4th Annual Miles 4 Major 5K. The start and finish line will be at Maple Avenue Methodist Church in Marietta. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. and the walk/run will be at 7:30 a.m.

Miles-4-Major is a non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness and financial support for families of hearing-impaired children through family centered outreach events such as the Annual Miles-4-Major 5K Race.

Lexie and Jonathan Bultman started the run because of the high expenses for families with hearing impaired children. Even though the Bultmans had “really good insurance,” it did not cover the cost of hearing aids for their son, Major. Major was born in 2009 with multiple birth defects, one of which was hearing loss.

All 5K participants will receive a T-shirt and goodie bag. There will be trophies for the first overall male/female as well as awards for top three runners in each division.

In conjunction with the race, K. Mike Whittle Designs will have a Huge Yard Sale in the church parking lot or fellowship hall in case of rain to benefit Miles 4 Major. The sale will include holiday items, Christmas, fall and more. Mike Whittle is the grandfather of Major Bultman.

The church is at 63 Maple Avenue, Marietta.

Walk-in registration is available at Big Peach Running Company’s Kennesaw or Marietta locations or register online at To learn more, visit
