After failing to crack Alabama’s deep rotation of quarterbacks, former Walton High School standout Parker McLeod has transferred to Western Kentucky, the Daily News of Bowling Green, Ky., reported Thursday.

McLeod graduated from Walton following the fall semester of 2012, then enrolled early at Alabama in a bid to get a headstart on other members of the Crimson Tide’s 2013 recruiting class, which also included McLeod’s Walton teammate, running back Tyren Jones. Ultimately, he redshirted in 2013 as AJ McCarron was firmly entrenched as Alabama’s starting QB.

McLeod then saw limited time in Alabama’s spring game in April, with his only pass attempt being thrown for an interception. It was not long after that Tide coach Nick Saban confirmed that McLeod was pursuing a transfer.

McLeod, who would have to sit out the fall by transferring to another Football Bowl Subdivision program, will be eligible to play as a redshirt sophomore in 2015. The next year, Western Kentucky is scheduled to play a game at Alabama.

Western Kentucky will enter the fall with six quarterbacks, including McLeod. The incumbent starter, Brandon Doughty, will be a fifth-year senior.

Good luck Parker. Next year you will be able to play against Louisiana Tech where Price Wilson plays.

This is why HS players should never "package" a couple teammates together to a school. One rep for an INT in the spring game was embarrassing. Clearly not Bama level talent.

BamaBornDukie, it was not a package deal period, and you know it. Only thing embarrassing is a dude like you pounding his sizable ego at the expense of kids. Please tell us again how much you bench.

I was Comment #2 but it wasn't used. Probably should've toned it down a bit but BamaBornPukie just really gets under my skin. This guy is 5 foot 6 and takes selfies without a shirt on with his gold chains hanging down. He then goes on various blogs and professes to be an expert and boy, does he like to hear himself talk. His expertise over the last couple of years is to criticize unmercifully, high school football players/teenagers. It's completely shameful how horrible he is towards them.

Parker was the perfect student athlete for Alabama and a hard worker and good teammate. He had many choices before choosing Alabama. They have now brought in other QB's, including FSU's backup to the Heisman Trophy winner. The coaches at Bama cared so much for Parker that they want him to play and help another program. He'll do great at Western Kentucky and I can't wait to watch him at the next level.

BBD was obviously never taught by his mother that if you can't say something nice...don't say anything at all!

What did BBD say that was so wrong? You must be related to PM.

@ Crimson Fan, BBP is in the pockets of other teenagers that he chooses to promote, while bashing the others. You must've not had the distinct displeasure of having to read his hurtful comments these past few years.

Not related to PM at all, or to Walton. Just a fan of high school football and find it hard to understand how an adult thinks it's okay to belittle and criticize a teenager who is trying his best.

I've actually met BBP and when I saw his stature and the way he carried himself, it explained quite a bit. However, that doesn't make it right that he continues...even 2 years after Parker graduated, to knock him. I know both families that he professes to say were involved in a 'package deal' and they both say that wasn't remotely the case.

BBP needs to stick to what he knows best and that would be...uh, well I don't know what that would be. I do know that he needs to grow up and act like a man.
