SMYRNA — Police say a 9-year-old boy who was originally believed to have been abducted by his father is safe.

Smyrna authorities said 35-year-old Ryan Stow was threatening to commit suicide Tuesday afternoon at a home on Oakdale Drive, but no one was there when they arrived.

They now say Stow was camping in Alabama with his son, Braiden, “who has been located safe and sound,” Smyrna Officer Ed Cason said Thursday.

Cason said Braiden is with his mother, and no charges have been filed against Stow.

Concerns about Stow’s safety after the alleged suicide threats are a “matter for him and his family,” Cason said.
