2014 biennial homecoming starts today

MARIETTA — A five-day celebration for Marietta and Cobb County residents starts tonight.

The 2014 Biennial Marietta-Cobb Homecoming kicks off at 6 p.m. with a Meet-and-Greet at American Legion Post 296, which is at 906 West Atlanta Road, just south of the intersection with South Cobb Drive.

Other events include a social at 7 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion Post, a banquet at the Atlanta Marriott Northwest, at 200 Interstate N. Pkwy SE on Friday from 7 to 12 a.m., a block party and parade Saturday near the former Lemon Street Elementary School and a gospel festival Sunday at Holsey Chapel on North Cole Street from 3 to 6 p.m.

T-shirts are on sale for $15, and souvenir books will be available at the banquet Friday night.
