In partnership with the National Shooting Sports Foundation and Project ChildSafe, GLOCK initiated a National Safety Month in June to encourage responsible firearm ownership and safety. The firearm manufacturer, whose U.S. headquarters is in Smyrna, also asked the general public to sign a pledge expressing their commitment to safety.
Police departments around the country participated in the monthlong event. The Marietta Police Department did more than ask citizens to sign the pledge, however. They launched a social media campaign to educate citizens on firearm safety and conducted two firearm safety seminars at the City Hall Council Chambers.
GLOCK executives will meet with officials from the Marietta police department Wednesday to congratulate its members for their successful campaign and their commitment to firearm safety awareness.
