MARIETTA — Vonage Business Solutions is moving its 800-employee Midtown Atlanta office to Cobb County later this summer, county Chairman Tim Lee said.
The communications provider, which is headquartered in New Jersey, will move into an 80,000-square-foot space in the Towers at Wildwood Plaza on Windy Hill Road in Cumberland.
Lee said jobs are a mix of $40,000-salary sales jobs and $100,000-salary IT positions.
Vonage offers a world plan allowing unlimited calling to more than 60 countries, with features such as call waiting, call forwarding and visual voicemail.
Company president Wain Kellum told the Atlanta Business Chronicle the move was “driven by our desire to offer our employees a great facility and expanded amenities. We believe this move will help us retain and attract employees from the Atlanta area, which has a highly talented labor pool, particularly in the area of technology.”
Lee said Vonage serves 2.4 million subscribers, and its move is seen as a sign of success in Cobb.
“I have always made it very clear that this community is all about economic development and job growth,” Lee said. “Our team is about results, and as you can see, Vonage is yet another example of a community working hard to gain those results.”
Brooks Mathis, Cobb Chamber of Commerce vice president and executive director of Cobb’s Competitive EDGE initiative, added he was also happy about the company’s decision.
“Creating jobs has been a focus of our EDGE program since the very beginning,” Mathis said. “Having a single point of contact for economic development projects has helped us rally our team to make projects like Vonage land in our community.”
