Police are investigating a Powder Springs motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a Mableton man Sunday.

Anthony B. Gaiter, 42, was driving his black 2010 Harley-Davidson west on Richard D. Sailors Parkway toward New Macland Road Sunday evening and was approaching the intersection on a green light when the collision occurred, according to police.

Investigators say Gaiter struck the right side of a gray 2012 GMC Acadia driven by Oyin J. Mitchell, 39, of Lithia Springs, after it turned in front of Gaiter.

Police say Gaiter was transported via ambulance to Kennestone Hopsital, where he received treatment for his injuries, but he died from them later that evening.

Mitchell and her passenger, an unidentified child who was restrained in a car seat, did not require any medical attention, police say.

Police say the incident remains under investigation and they expect to file charges when the investigation is complete.
