MARIETTA — Members of the Marietta fire, Marietta police, Smyrna fire and Smyrna police departments are facing off on the diamond, all in the name of charity.

The 2nd Annual Marietta Softball Classic is Sunday at 10 a.m. The tournament will be at Aviation Sports Complex in Marietta at 455 Aviation Road. All proceeds will be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, which aids injured service members and their families.

The Marietta Fire Team defeated the Marietta Police Department in the 2013 championship game.

The 2013 tournament collected $1,500 in donations for charities.

The public is invited to attend the tournament and cheer on the officers and firemen. “We are very excited about the camaraderie this event promotes between our public safety brothers and sisters, and look forward to the future success of our efforts to support the Wounded Warrior Project,” stated Major Steve Kish with the Marietta Police Department and co-organizer of the event.

Corporations and individuals can donate by calling the 6-4-3 Foundation at (678) 354-3199.
