Ongoing construction projects along the northwest side of Interstate 285 and Interstate 20 downtown could cause traffic problems this weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Although thunderstorms could delay roadwork, officials say drivers should consider alternate routes if weather permits construction to continue. Two southbound lanes on I-285, between Paces Ferry and South Atlanta roads, will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for concrete slab replacement and construction, officials say. Work on sign construction projects will close two lanes in each direction between New Northside Drive and Highway 75, while three westbound lanes between Riverside and Northside drives will be closed overnight Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well. GDOT suggests calling 511 or consulting their website before travelling to learn current work status and traffic conditions.
