Use of the term “opponents” is causing some misunderstanding when folks read about the protests against the “Braves Deal.”

Few of those who protest the “Deal” have any concern with the Braves coming to Cobb. In fact, nearly everyone, including the protesters, is in favor of the move. Most recognize that the Braves will probably be good for the county.

The protesters are largely dismayed by the way the Board of Commissioners has seemingly rushed the transaction through their approval processes and obligated the taxpayers to be financially responsible for much of the cost, all without soliciting much taxpayer opinion or involvement. The protesters oppose the way the “Deal” has been handled. But, most of them do not oppose the overall objective.

Not quite, the opponents do not want the county to spend any money or use any taxes for the stadium. I guess they may want the Braves but only at no cost.
