Blaylan Phillips, 20, was taken into custody Saturday morning after investigators spent days poring over the details of the shooting, which took place during a large party in an apartment at The Dwells @ 750 complex, about a mile away from Burruss Nature Park.
According to the sheriff’s office, Phillips was also a resident of the complex in which the shooting took place.
Witnesses say an altercation broke out when four to five uninvited guests turned up at the party and began arguing with party-goers, according to Officer David Baldwin, spokesman for the Marietta Police Department.
The conflict escalated when one of the unwanted guests pulled out a gun, investigators say, and began shooting into the crowd.
Authorities say Christopher Wilson, 19, of Marietta, was pronounced dead from his injuries at the hospital. The remaining two victims have been identified as 19-year-old Chauncey Martin and 18-year-old Malik Phillips, who both sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Baldwin said Monday Martin and Malik Phillips have since been released from the hospital.
Blaylan Phillips has been charged with murder and aggravated assault, both of which are felonies. He is being held at the county jail without bail.
