According to an arrest warrant, on May 15, Dareion Xavier Vaughn pulled his car alongside the girl, who was walking in her neighborhood, and asked her for directions. Investigators say he then opened his door and demanded the girl get into his car. Vaughn’s pants had been pulled down and he was touching himself, according to police.
After fleeing, the girl reported that she was too frightened to attend school and remained shut in her home out of fear.
According to the warrant, the victim and her family saw Vaughn circling the neighborhood three days after the alleged incident and called 911. Authorities say the suspect attempted to run from police and elude arrest when they were summoned to the victim’s area. Once in custody, investigators say Vaughn stated he was searching for the victim so he could apologize to her.
Vaughn has been charged with felony child molestation, first degree cruelty to a child and enticing a child.
