Mr. Earl Vernon Jackson, age 81, of Smyrna, GA, died Friday, May 23, 2014. The funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 25th in the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta with Rev. Greg Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Jackson was a U. S. Navy veteran and was recalled to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired as a Flight Line Manager at Lockheed-Martin and he was also the owner of several television repair shops over the years. Mr. Jackson was a member and past President of the Lockheed Boat Club at Lake Lanier for 50 years. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Jackson Sweeney. Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Bettye Jackson of Smyrna, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Steven & Barbara Jackson of Cumming, GA; daughter, Robin McRaney of Dallas, TX; brothers, Joe Jackson, Jr. of Cartersville, GA, Aubrey Jackson of Smyrna, GA, Euel Jackson of Seattle, WA; sisters, Cleo Ponder of Cartersville, GA, Ruth Powell of Calhoun, GA; seven grandchildren & two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Saturday, May 24th at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta (770) 424-4924.
