The “dismay” shown by Ms. Acevedo sadly is common among those transplants that don’t have roots in the South. They don’t understand that we celebrate the lives of our deceased and the end of World War II as well as many other historical events. The War Between the States was an unmitigated disaster for the Confederate States. It should never have happened but for hot heads on both sides; Lincoln and Davis included. We mourn the loss of so many on both sides that suffered and died.
