White Water features 27 rides and attractions.
“One of the greatest things about White Water compared to any other water park is that the sheer number of rides allows us to have something for everybody. We’re very family based and driven,” said Trevor Leonard, park director of White Water. Six Flags White Water has employed him since 1999.
“We’ve got things not just for the little kids. We’ve got things for teenagers. We’ve got something for the twenty-somethings and stuff for the adults to do,” the Marietta resident said.
New this year is an entertainment space that allows the park to show more dive-in movies and to provide live entertainment at the park.
“Our dive-in movies on Thursday nights in June and July are popular events. It’s become one of those staples (our guests) expect and look forward to each year,” he said.
On Thursday nights in June and July, White Water hosts family night starting at 7 p.m.
“We run dive-in movies where folks can sit in the Wave Pool or sit around the Wave Pool and watch a huge 20-foot movie screen of some of the most popular movies (like “Shrek” or “Jaws”). If it’s not water related directly, it’s all family related. It’s a great time,” Leonard said.
Typhoon Twister, one of the park’s biggest attractions, is back for its second season.
“The massive new water park attraction — the very first of its kind in the state — will take you by storm, sending you and three other bold adventurists (on a four-person tube) barreling down an enclosed five-story drop before shooting you out into a gigantic 67-foot wide bowl where you’ll be hurled around and around in pure mayhem, before finally dropping out through a corkscrew chute into a splash pool below,” according to sixflags.com/whitewater.
White Water is a gem in Marietta’s backyard.
“White Water has one of the best ambiences you can get with all our trees. It’s really neat to be in the water park here because of all the shade from our trees,” he said.
“We’re one of the largest water parks in the world. Folks in Cobb County accept us because wherever they go they can’t find the same experience they find at White Water when it comes to water parks,” Leonard said.
