IVEY, William Paul Age 86, of Mableton, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014 after a long battle with respiratory disease. Paul Ivey was the tenth child born to George Chesterfield and Fannie Mae Ivey in Brinson, Decatur County, Georgia. He served in the US Navy from 1945-1967 retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. “Chief” was recognized as an Honorary Worshipful Master of the Latham Masonic Lodge #12 F&AM in Austell. He also was a member of the Sweetwater Shrine Club #24, Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta and the American Legion Post #264. Through these organizations he proudly served his community and brethren, and had a special place in his heart for special needs children. He was a loving family man, survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Joan Frances Ivey of Mableton; five children - Marsha Staggs (Steve) of Norman, OK, Sandra Tucker (Dennis) of Jacksonville, FL, Michael Ivey (Marvalane) of Douglasville, Stacy Fisher (Mark) of Douglasville, and Angie Ivey (Steve Goodyear) of Marietta; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Sally. A Masonic service will be held at White Columns Funeral Chapel in Mableton on Wednesday, May 14th at 2 pm followed by a full military graveside service at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA. The family will receive friends at White Columns Chapel on Tuesday 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donate to your favorite charity.
