Maria Morales, of Marietta, has been charged with a misdemeanor after police say she failed to enroll her child in school.

According to an arrest warrant, Morales withdrew her daughter from Griffin Middle School in early December, but there has not yet been a school inquiring about records in order to re-enroll the girl elsewhere.

According to the warrant, Morales claims her family has moved out of state, but “it has been reported that (the) student is still in Georgia living with the mother.”

Morales was released from the Cobb County jail to U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
