Shame on AP for ‘racism' story

DEAR EDITOR:

April 14’s MDJ had an AP article titled “Democratic committee leader says GOP base motivated by racism” Now this is the kind of a headline I would find on the cover of magazines located at the checkout counter at my grocery story. In the words of a once famous tennis player, “You can’t be serious!!!” Not unless you have had your head in the sand for the last 10 years, an educated, thoughtful and righteous man would recognize a lie when he hears or reads it no matter what the source and to perpetuate that lie is unconscionable.

When did you sell your soul for a mess of pottage (or your birth right)? Have you lost your sense of printing articles that have no redeeming thought or value at all or do you just pass on any AP article as worthwhile without fact-checking the veracity of the source? Do you no longer have a conscience or have you so seared your heart that you will print anything that passes for news because of your ideology? Shame on you! Shame on you!

One other thought: the term “racism” is used in today’s culture when they no longer can debate the facts and so they turn to what they do best, i.e. name calling and viciously attacking the messenger and not the message. God have mercy on our nation before we completely lose our souls now and for eternity!

After fawning over Clive Bundy for weeks GOP commentators and political conservatives are now running for the hills over his racist comments. There is absolutely nothing inconsistent in Bundy's comments and conservative philosophy except in the inarticulate way he said them. Whether conservatives are referring to the inner city, affirmative action, states rights or welfare

they are the same dog whistle politics that the Republican Party has grown so fond of for years.

Mr. Swatek protests too much. To suggest race isn't in some way a motivating factor in the right's unhinged anger over the Obama presidency ignores evidence to the contrary. Just this week, the "birthers" were at it again, attempting to portray Obama as an "other."

AG Holder was exactly right. Never has a lawfully elected president or his administration been subjected to such outrageous disrespect.
