Charae Krueger, artist-in-residence at Kennesaw State University, will provide a pre-concert in addition to her participation in the presentation. Tradition holds that, during Holy Week in the ancient church, pilgrims made their way to Jerusalem to walk the path Jesus walked during the last days and events of his suffering. Scripture reading and prayer accompanied this walk, underscoring the significant places and events along the way. By the 16th century, 14 “stations of the cross” came to be accepted in many circles. Eight of those stations related to events recorded directly in the gospels, and these form the basis of this musical work.
The church is at 2325 Roswell Road, Marietta.
