Cobb Police are investigating a fatal crash on Old Alabama Road at South Gordon Road on Thursday evening that claimed the life of a 78-year-old Austell man.

According to investigators and evidence from the crash scene, the driver of a gold 1996 GMC Sonoma truck was traveling east on Old Alabama Road when, for reasons unknown, the driver failed to maintain his lane. Investigators say as the truck left the southern edge of the road just east of South Gordon Road, it traveled up a large mound of dirt where it overturned.

The driver, identified as 78-year-old Paul R. Osborne of Austell, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Osborne may have experienced a medical emergency, which contributed to the crash. The Cobb County Medical Office has taken custody of the body and will determine the cause of death. Anyone with information is asked to call (770) 499-3987.
