Cobb Police are investigating a homicide that occurred on Mableton Parkway in Mableton on Thursday night at about 11:30 p.m.

According to investigators, there was a verbal dispute between two groups of men on the property of the Mableton Reserve Apartment complex.

Investigators say 36-year-old Quintaurum Gardner of Mableton was hit in the face by 23-year-old Otis Laws during the argument.

Detectives believe that after being hit, Gardner fell and struck his head on the pavement. Gardner, who was unconscious at the time, was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

On Friday afternoon, the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Squad apprehended Laws without incident. According to police, Laws was booked into the Cobb County jail on charges of battery and involuntary manslaughter.
