Lesby Mitchell Wise, age 89, of Columbus, MS, formerly of Meadville, MS, passed away April 7, 2014, at New Horizon Living Facilities of Columbus. Funeral services will be Friday, April 11, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Gunter & Peel Chapel with Rev. Melvin Mordecai officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Monday, April 14, 2014, at 12:00 PM at Natchez National Cemetery in Natchez, MS. Mrs. Wise was born September 13, 1924, in Meadville, MS, to the late Ralph E. and Gussie Whittington Mitchell. She graduated from the Mississippi Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Jackson, MS, and was a retired registered nurse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Carey Wise and granddaughter, Gina Conn. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Wise Conn and her husband Barney of Columbus, MS, sons, Michael Wise and his wife Barbara of Roanoke, VA, and Mitchell Wise and his wife Roslyn of Madison, WI, sister, Edith M. Lancaster of Hattiesburg, MS, brother, Rayford Mitchell and his wife Gerda of Hattiesburg, MS, and grandchildren, Russell Conn of Steens, MS, Brett Wise of Madison, WI, and Erin Wise of Madison, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

I am so sorry for the loss your beloved Lesby. She must have lived an incredible life surrounded by her loved ones and helping others as a nurse. Certainly, Ecclesiastes 7:1 applies to her life because it seemed to be very full of love and caring. Please be comforted by your warm memories and God’s holy spirit .
