Jack Warren Boone, age 91, of Marietta passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Tranquility Hospice in Austell. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Marietta Chapel. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Jack was born September 8, 1922, in Montgomery, Alabama to Carl and Mable Boone and spent his growing up years in Ramer, Alabama. He served in the United States Army and was involved in the Battle of Kasserine Pass in which he was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart. Jack married Anne Quimby of Laurel, Mississippi in April 1946. They lived in San Francisco, California and in Dothan, Alabama before coming to Marietta. Both Anne and Jack worked at Lockheed prior to establishing Jack W. Boone Realty in Smyrna. Jack was involved in Cobb County real estate for over sixty years and was founding president of First Multiple Listing Service. After retiring, he was actively involved with the Marietta Golden K organization. At last he had the time to really enjoy his primary hobby of writing and published numerous novels and short stories. Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife Anne and infant son, Gary Carl Boone. He is survived by his son James Warren Boone and wife Carol; granddaughters Ashley Boone White and husband Bret, and Keely Boone Armour and husband Chad; great-granddaughter Avery Chase Armour; and great-grandson Cash Warren Armour. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, Waterman Street, Marietta, Tranquility Hospice in Austell or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be held at Mayes-Ward Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta on Monday, April 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.
