A Marietta man was charged with possession of meth, reckless conduct and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana after police say he hid illegal drugs in his 4-year-old daughter’s handbag.

Marco Antonio Thomas, of Heatherwood Lane in Marietta, was charged March 29 between 2:15 and 3 a.m. According to police reports, the Marietta Police asked to search a room at the Hometown Inn on Canton Road where Thomas was staying and he gave them permission.

According to the warrant, the search turned up a small amount of suspected meth, about half an ounce, and an even smaller amount of marijuana, just over a quarter of an ounce.

The arrest warrant states the suspected drugs were found in a child’s handbag on the bathroom floor, which led to Thomas being charged with reckless conduct for endangering the safety of the girl.

Thomas has been denied bond.
