Tired of farfetched claims on Braves move

DEAR EDITOR:

As one of the .3 percent of the people in Cobb who are opposed to public financing of the new Braves Stadium, I couldn’t help but wonder what Mr. John Loud was smoking when he claims that 99.7 percent of Cobb Countians support such financing. Either he’s living in a bubble or suffering from delusions. Either way, thanks for reporting on such an outlandish claim. It fits in nicely with all the other far-fetched claims that new stadium boosters have been making from the get go.

However, if opponents are as few in number as John asserts, surely he wouldn’t object to creating a mechanism by which reactionary troglodytes like myself can opt out from the breadbasket of taxes that will be used to subsidize the Brave’s “investment.”

You anti tax people expect fire and police protection, no pot holes, traffic signals at every street corner, fine parks, no litter or high weeds along the roadway, and excellent courts.

But you do not not want to pay any taxes to have your pie in the sky. Then when something happens that will bring lots of tax money into the county from people outside the county you all get on the side of the road and throw rocks.

So how about all of you guys finding a new place to live. Maybe you can find a Wonderland and go have tea with Alice.

Pretty easy to opt out! Move to another county, that way you will not have to suffer through any more pain of the tremendous amount of taxes you have to pay in Cobb.

When Cobb County Taxpayers start paying increased taxes with little return for their investment I am sure they will be very upset. It was done with very little input from the people of Cobb County. Also there was no vote on renewing the park splost for the Braves stadium and the costs vs benefits have not been proven. It gives credence to the saying done in haste repend at leisure

Your little taxpayer club does not support anything the enhances our county. While 99.7% is a stretch I would not be surprised if 75% of Cobb County supports the Braves move.

If the Braves stadium (our stadium) and development project is so popular, why not give us a chance to vote on it?

Loud is pretty loud and insecure, but his numbers are pure rubbish - Silence is what Lee and his cronies want - they fear a lost if put before the voters of Cobb County. Bring on the ballot box if Loud and others are so certain. Be like the honest plumber !
