Wilson Pittard Jr. age 95 of Smyrna, died Wednesday March 26, 2014. He is survived by his wife Madeline Pittard of Smyrna, daughters Sherri Hooten, Cindy Mc Clure, four grandchildren, Brian Mc Clure, Casey Mc Clure, Josh Hooten, Ryan Hooten and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Pittard was a member of Defoor Ave. Baptist Church as well as a US Army / Air Corp. Veteran WWII serving in Headquarters, 444 th. Bomb Group (V H) as a Cryptographer. This was one of the first 4, B-29 groups formed, which began the bombing of Japan from India in April 1944. In May, 1945, our group moved to Tinian in the Marianas Islands. We were on Tinian when the two Atomic bombs were dropped on Japan in August, 1945 thus ending the war. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday March 29 , 2014 at Defoor Ave. Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Whitmire and Rev. John Moody officiating. He will lie in state one hour prior to service time. Burial will be held in Crestlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors.
