Chase Burks grand slam in the fourth inning proved to be all the offense Walton would need as the Raiders downed Cherokee 6-1 Monday in a Region 5AAAAAA contest.
Walton (12-2, 5-0) scored all six of their runs in the fourth. Will White improved to 4-0 on the season after pitching a complete game five-hitter. Carter Kieboom was 2-for-4, K.K. Brooks added two hits and an RBI and Luke Manzo went 2-for-3.
The Raiders will host Lovett today.
Kennesaw Mountain 6, Marietta 2: Reggie Pruitt was 4-for-4 with a double to help lead the Mustangs to a Region 4AAAAAA victory.
Patrick Martin was 3-for-3 and Tyler Stephenson had a hit and drove in three.
Zach Goodman pitched six innings, gave up three hits and struck out seven.
Kennesaw Mountain (11-5, 4-2) will host Hillgrove on Wednesday.
Harrison 11, Campbell 3: Tanner Weeks bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh gave the Hoyas the breathing room they needed as they downed the Spartans in a Region 4AAAAAA contest.
Harrison (11-1, 4-0) broke open a 5-3 game with six runs in the top of the seventh.
Weeks finished the night 3-for-4 and drove in four. Hunter Fortner was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Chandler Firestein improved to 4-0 on the season pitching four innings allowing four hits and three runs.
The Hoyas will host McEachern on Wednesday.
Hillgrove 9, Coffee 3: John Devine was 2-for-3 with an RBI to help the Hawks earn a non-region victory.
Carter Landreth and Tyler Toloefson each went 2-for-2, Chareef Allen had an RBI double and Alex Nuovo added a hit and an RBI.
Hillgrove (8-5) travels to Kennesaw Mountain on Wednesday.
North Cobb 10, South Cobb 0: Trevor Devine pitched four shutout innings as the Warriors rolled to a Region 4AAAAAA victory.
Dustin Morrow went 2-for-3 with two two-run singles and drove in four. Chandler Seivers finished 2-for-3.
North Cobb (8-5, 3-3) will travel to Campbell on Wednesday.
Allatoona 14, New Manchester 1 (5 inn.): Spencer Sherer hit a threerun homer in the first and Jordeyn Lewis added another three-run homer in the fifth as the Buccaneers rolled to a Region 5AAAAA victory.
Pete Derkay was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Brady Deles went 2-for-3 and drove in one.
Grayson Harbin pitched three innings and allowed one hit to earn the win.
Allatoona (10-0, 8-0) will host Woodland on Wednesday.
Sprayberry 4, Cambridge 2: Zach Williams and Hunter Lyons each went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Yellow Jackets to a Region 7AAAAA victory. McKenzie Mills pitched five innings allowing four hits, two runs and struck out six to earn the win. Gerard Aucoin pitched two perfect innings for the save. Alex Endres and Tucker Breen each added RBIs.
Sprayberry (10-4, 7-2) will host Kell on Wednesday.
Creekview 11, Pope 7: The Grizzlies scored nine runs on one hit in the sixth inning as they came back for a Region 7AAAAA victory.
Creekview sent 13 batters to the plate and benefitted from six walks, two errors, catcher’s interference and a hit batsman to erase what had once been a 7-0 lead.
Patrick Wiseman had a two-run home run, Stephen Skruck had a solo shot, Josh Lowe added an RBI triple and Jacob Culberson finished 2-for-4.
Pope (7-7, 6-3) will host Riverwood on Wednesday.
Gordon Lee 2, Whitefield Academy 0 (9 inn.): Matt Olsen pitched 7 1/3 shutout innings, but it wasn’t enough as the Wolfpack fell in the Region 6A game.
Olson allowed only four hits and struck out six. He also added a double at the plate.
Bradley Davidson and Ryan Wesley each added doubles.
Whitefield (6-6, 3-4) will travel to Trion today.
Pope 1, Cambridge 0: The visiting Greyhounds scored with 15 minutes left in the game when Ian Van Buskirk took a free kick from 20 yards out.
The Cambridge keeper blocked it but couldn’t possess the ball and Matt LaFerle was there to tap it in.
Goalkeeper Travis Parker had two saves, one coming off a corner kick in the first half.
Pope will host Kell on Thursday
Pope 2, Cambridge 1: Pope scored its game-winning goal with two and a half minutes left to play to seal the Region 7AAAAA win. Kathryn Schreck got it started when she passed the ball to Taylor Meneide at the top of the penalty box and Meneide fed it inside to Alex Grace for the goal.
Goodwin Brown accounted for Pope first goal in the opening minute of the second half with an assist by Grace and Cambridge evened it in the 67th minute.
Blair Shortland and Natalia Icen combined for two saves at goal.
Pope (7-2-3, 5-1) and will hostt Kell on Thursday.
Hillgrove 3, Marietta 0: The Lady Hawks recorded a shutout in their Region 4AAAAAA win after taking a 2-0 lead at the half.
Mollie Williams, Nathalie Montano and Rachel Palazzo scored the goals. Sydney A. Clarke assisted two of the goals and Sydney C. Clarke had the other assists.
Hillgrove (7-4-1, 4-2) will play at Allatoona on Thursday in a non-region game.
Walton 153, Lassiter 167: John Yi shot 39 to lead the Raiders to a dual match victory over the Trojans at Indian Hills Country Club.
Connor Edison shot 38 while Matt Flynn and Andrew Yowell each carded 39.
Walton is off until April 9 when it takes on Sequoyah.
Whitefield Academy 103, Walker 140: Madison Barnett shot 40 to lead the Lady Wolfpack to a dual match victory over the Lady Wolverines at Dogwood Country Club.
Anna Kate Peterson shot 63.
Whitefield will face Campbell at Fox Creek on Thursday.
Hillgrove 3, Allatoona 2: Henry Squire won his singles match 6-1, 6-0 to help lead the Hawks to a non-region victory.
Caleb Edde won 6-4, 7-6, and the doubles team of Jacob Cantrell and Andy Johnson won 7-6, 6-2.
Hillgrove (9-4) will travel to Kennesaw Mountain today.
