ATLANTA (AP) — An international shipping company is planning to develop its North American headquarters in the metro Atlanta area.

Gov. Nathan Deal announced Tuesday that the United Arab Shipping Company will establish its North American headquarters in Peachtree Corners and is expected to create 160 new jobs.

Deal says the company will occupy a 50,000 square-foot facility housing its shipping logistics, accounting, finance and customer service operations along with an executive management team.

Founders from several Middle Eastern countries formed the Dubai-based company with the goal of linking the Middle East to the rest of the world.

Company President Anil Vitarana says a global airline network, the metro Atlanta region's workforce and the area's quality of life factored into Peachtree Corners being chosen for the company's North American headquarters.
