WellStar Cobb names new VP, COO

WellStar Health System announced Kevin Deter as vice president and chief operating officer for WellStar Cobb Hospital. In this role, he will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the hospital.

Deter will report to Kem Mullins, senior vice president of WellStar and president of WellStar Cobb Hospital. His other responsibilities include developing and executing strategies to advance the overall performance of hospital operations; overseeing hospital-wide compliance with the necessary state and local regulatory agencies, The Joint Commission and System requirements; and ensuring systems, processes and procedures are in place to continuously improve the patient-centered experience, efficiency and outcomes of all departments. Deter has more than 20 years of hospital administration experience.

Prior to joining WellStar, he was vice president of business and network development at Iredell Health System in Statesville, N.C. He also served as vice president of operations at Iredell and held administrative positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center. He received his bachelor’s degree in hospital and health administration from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green and his master’s degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Deter was an administrative fellow at the University Medical Center at Stony Brook, N.Y.

Perhaps Mr. Mullins or Mr. Deter can explain why the Account Payable department at Wellstar has not been able to pay vendors on time for the last 9 months or so? The A/P department will not explain it and does not return calls or emails.
