This weekend, check out Red Hare Brewing Company, the first craft brewery in Georgia to can its own beer — right here in Marietta. Go to a tour and tasting any Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

“We brew craft quality beer in Marietta for the everyday person,” said Bobby Thomas, who co-founded the company with Roger Davis.

The brewery tours and tastings are every Thursday and Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m.

“You get to come in and get an educational tour of the brewery and see how it works, how beer is made and the chance to sample up to 32 ounces of beer,” Thomas said.

Souvenir glasses for beer tasting are available for $10. The glass comes with 6 tickets for sampling beer. No purchase is necessary to sample beer.

Thomas and Davis began brewing beer in Davis’ basement. Looking for something other than the corporate world, the two opened the brewery.

“We wanted to do something else. We looked down the road to brewing beer and here we are,” Thomas said.

“(The tour/tasting) is a fun, different thing to do. You get to try a few different kinds of beer brewed locally,” he said. “It’s a good mingling time. You get to meet new people locally.”

Red Hare Brewing Company is at 1998 Delk Industrial Blvd., Marietta.
