State Rep. Delvis Dutton, a Glennville Republican, on Wednesday announced his campaign for eastern Georgia's 12th Congressional District, which covers 19 counties and includes Augusta, Statesboro, Dublin and Vidalia.
Dutton is a bit of a latecomer to the race, considering primary elections will be held May 20. Two Republican candidates from Augusta — construction company owner Rick W. Allen and former congressional aide John Stone — have been raising money and campaigning since last summer.
Dutton, who owns a business that drills water wells for landowners, was elected to the Legislature in 2010. His statehouse district includes Tattnall, Evans and Wayne counties.
