'Seniors in Crisis' event to discuss looming cuts

Cobb Senior Services is having a forum titled “Seniors in Crisis” on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Senior Wellness Center in Marietta.

The session will educate seniors, families and caregivers about looming budget cuts to senior services and how to mitigate the impact. Speakers for the panel include Jeff Smythe of Meals on Wheels Georgia, Maureen Kelley of Atlanta Regional Commission Division of Aging, Debra Furtado of Senior Connections and Mary McCarthy of CoAge. There will also be a rally on Jan. 30 titled “Be There 4 Seniors” on the steps of the state capitol.
