Talmadge E. Dean, 83, of Acworth, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2 Tuesday afternoon in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery. A native of Cherokee County, Talmadge served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired as a supervisor from Lockheed Georgia Corp. in 1986 after 35 years of service. He was an ordained minister for many years and had served as pastor of numerous churches in Bartow and Cherokee Counties. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, June F. Dean of Acworth; daughters, Sylvia D. (Gregg) Hamby of Acworth, Deborah S. (Steve) Ansley of Marshallville, N.C., and Angela Dean Hood of White; special daughter, Debbie Cochran of Blairsville; grandchildren, Dustin (Brandy) Hamby, Cale Hood, Ryne (Keeli) Hood, Tyler Strizzi, William Hood, and Hannah Hood; great-grandchildren, Macy and Landon Hamby and Anniston Hood; brother, Clyde Dean of Acworth; sisters, Sammie Reaid of Acworth and Bobbie King of Orange Park, Fla.; several nieces and nephews also survive. Online condolences may be expressed at The family will receive friends from 2 until 9 p.m. on Monday at Collins Funeral Home 4947 North Main St. Acworth, GA 30101 770-974-3133.
