MARIETTA — A funeral is planned today for David Peacock Braun, 21, of Marietta, who was found dead in his dorm room at the University of Georgia earlier this week.

The third-year psychology and computer science student, who graduated from Kell High School in 2011, died of unknown causes in a Vandiver Hall dorm room Tuesday.

University of Georgia police said a cause of death could not be determined from an autopsy done on Braun’s body earlier this week, and results from a toxicology test will not be available for days, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Braun was attending UGA on an academic scholarship, according to an obituary from Marietta Funeral Home.

“He was passionate about music. He taught himself to play the guitar and became good at it. His University of Georgia roommates could often hear him playing his guitar and singing,” the obituary read.

Visitation with the family will be today at 3 p.m. at Marietta Funeral Home, at 915 Piedmont Road in Marietta.

An informal funeral service will follow, at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Nature Conservancy of Georgia, 100 Peachtree Street NW, Suite 2250, Atlanta.

He is survived by his parents, Jon Braun and Harriet Peacock of Marietta, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
