Roberta E. Knight, 83, of Florence went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday evening, January 10, 2014 at the McLeod Hospice House after an Illness. Mrs. Knight was born in Florence, SC a daughter of the late Robbie Elmore and Lizzie Mae Matthews Elmore. In 1950 she married James C. Knight in Charleston, SC and had five children before settling in Smyrna, GA where she was employed at Rich’s Department Store.  She was a member of Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church in Coward, SC and had attended Green Acres Baptist Church in Smyrna, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James C. Knight; son, James D. Knight; daughters, Elizabeth Gail Phillips and Barbara Ann Knight; brother, Olee Elmore; sisters, Beulah Mae Prine, Luellen Johnson, Leona Murphy and Lucille White. Surviving are her sons, Michael D. Knight and Robbie E. (Sissy) Knight both of Atlanta, Ga; sisters, Nell (Boyd) Conner of Florence and Ruby Murdaugh of Ridgeville, SC; 7 grandchildren, Shawn Parker, Jennifer Reece, Kevin Phillips, Tara Dorsey, Kenan Knight, Holly Knight and Anthony Knight; 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including, Libby Aydlette of Summerville and Teresa Mims of Manning. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC  29502 or to Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church, PO Box 207, Coward, SC  29530. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 13, 2014 at Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM Monday prior to the service at the church.
