William Terry Ellis, Jr., 97, passed away peacefully Monday, January 6, in the presence of family. Mr. Ellis was employed by Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Company in Marietta, Georgia as a tool design engineer for 31 years. He retired in 1981. During his time with Lockheed, he worked on the B-47, C-130, C-141 and C5A programs, among others. He was a World War II veteran and served with the Army Air Corps, 345th Bomb Group, 499th Bomb Squadron in the Pacific. He enjoyed putting his engineering skills to practical application and was continuously improving the family home of 63 years with additions and upgrades which he usually completed single handedly. He, along with his wife, Lois, was a charter member of Tillman United Methodist Church in Smyrna, Georgia, where they both remained active all of their lives. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lois Evelyn Ellis. Surviving family members are two sons, Clay Ellis of Cumming, Georgia and Terry Ellis of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Brenda Eubanks and son-in-law, Ron Eubanks of Marietta, Georgia; a sister, Mrs. G. T. Burkett of Twin Falls, Idaho; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at Castellaw Funeral Home in Smyrna, Georgia Wednesday, January 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9 at 2 p.m. at Tillman United Methodist Church in Smyrna, Georgia. He will lie in state one hour before the service.
