Carl Osborne, 83 passed away on January 2, 2014 after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, January 7th at Carmichael Funeral Home Chapel in Smyrna with Revs’ Steve Lyle and Barbara Hatchell officiating. Interment will be 1 PM Tuesday in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Vickie Osborne, and two sisters Eloise Courtney and Doris Chapman. Carl was born in New Zion, South Carolina in 1930. He joined the U.S Army in 1948 and served in Japan during the Korean War. Carl was employed by Wellstar Cobb Hospital and Cobb Darby Realty. He retired in 1995, but remained active as a member of Wellstar’s Volunteer program and the Smyrna Kiwanis Club. Carl was also a long-time member of Smyrna First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Class. Carl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Bazemore Osborne; daughters Carol Johnson of Mableton, and Joan Osborne of Marietta; grandson, Zachary Johnson (Ashly) of Wilmington, NC; granddaughter, Joy Johnson of Mableton; two sisters, Jenny Haley of Manning, SC and Colene Johnson of Apex, NC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to M.U.S.T. Ministries, P.O. Box 1717, Marietta, GA 30061. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 PM Monday, January 6th at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna (770)435-4467.
